Our Annual Auction
Saturday night's School Auction was, quite simply: spectacular. Bravo to all those wonderful people who, yet again this year, put on a great show. Every year the auction gets even more interesting than the year before. With its 60 th Anniversary theme of Sparkling Black 'n' White, this year's décor was supremely elegant in its sheer simplicity. To be sure, we at Christ the King enjoy a wealth of talent among our parishioners. The auction, and this is the all important bottom line, was also very successful fund-raising-wise. Although the exact tally has not yet been made, all indications are that it more successful than anticipated.
A New Member of our Clergy Staff
I am happy to announce that, starting this week, Deacon Ron Vance has come on board to assist us with the liturgical and ministerial activities of our parish. Deacon Vance is a retired business man who was ordained for our Diocese fifteen years ago. A native of St. Petersburg, his home parish was St. Paul's in North St. Pete. He is married with three grown children and now lives in Holy Rosary parish, South Pasco, and has worked in many parishes throughout the East Coast, thus bringing with him a broad and varied wealth of diaconal experience to our Christ the King community. Deacon Vance's business experience is derived from many years as a senior executive with the Cigna Corporation. Please give him a great big welcome.
A New and Much Needed Ministry
I am happy to announce the start of a new ministry for our parish. It is a widely known fact that over the past year or so, many of our parishioners have lost their jobs. It is a tragedy that has affected the family lives of not a few of our parishioners, especially our men, most of whom, but not all, being fathers of families. The new ministry will take the form of a support and networking group. Deacon Vance will lead this new ministry. Are you, or do you know of men in our parish who are out of work?
